Rocks

I have felt that sweet feeling of joy and peace in knowing that I have been VERY loved and blessed. But I think the Lord has been reminding me to be grateful for the little things. I am going to lift this idea from a friend and try to write down 3 good things, to help me remember my blessings and the good things in life.

1. Rocks. I was doing laundry and as I emptied the washer I found a huge pile of rocks in the bottom. Carter is such a boy. I am so glad that I can watch his fascination as he fills his pocket with rocks. I am not as glad that I forget to remove them later.

2. Routine. Carter is way into his bedtime routine. He wants to be read to, have his songs sung and then hugs and kisses. Today I took the time to enjoy him just sitting on my lap and reading together, instead of just rushing through. I sang one more song and rubbed his back as he dozed off. He sleepily opened his eyes and said "Love you Mommy, give me kisses and hugs."

3. Giggles. Paige is such a sweet and happy baby. She is has the best little smile. When she scrunches up her eyes and opens her mouth wide, it melts my heart. I love to hear her giggle when she is watching Carter. The bond that they have is amazing. No one makes her smile and/or laugh like her big brother.

Seven Years Ago?
Written by Valerie Brummett
Thursday, 11 September 2008

Was is really seven years ago? It stills seems so clear to me. I remember so many vivid details about the day.

Today as I was driving in my car and listening to the radio the realization that, yes today was September 11th, hit me hard. I felt tear spring to my eyes and a wave of memories. There are few memories from that long ago that are so vivid.

I will not go into detail about it because I am sure that we all remember. I hope that we always will. I hope that we can honor the lives of those who fight everyday to keep us free and safe.

I do remember how many Americans started to cling to God, and search for God. I hope that it doesn't take a tragedy to make us remember our God,and to continue to grow and progress daily.

I am not sure about you, but I have felt like this years election was just choosing whom I liked the least of the two. I even considered not voting. Because there was not a candidate that I felt was "My Guy." I have spent time today to research and I hope that you will too! We need to be proud of our country and we need to be proud of our right to vote, one of the freedoms that people die to protect.

May God continue to bless our great nation and those who sacrifice so that we can enjoy it.

30 on the 30th!

Most of you know, Jeremy turned 30 this last month. Here are some of my favorite pictures from his surprise party.

We had some fun decorations and great food! We made Jeremy's favorite New York Cheese cake (thanks Jena)! I loved the candles on it. they said: Oh no, the big 30! And what does every 30 year old man want for his party?....A 'Cars' bounce house! That was a big hit, but so was the pool of ice with all of the drinks in it. Go figure! (Don't worry the bottles are Henry Weinhearts Root Beer, Jeremy's favorite.)

I had marinated two costco sized bags of chicken tenders, and I had a package of 30 jumbo hot dogs. At the end of the night there were about 5 pieces of chicken left. We probably had about 50 people stop in. Some came and stayed and some just dropped in! It was great!

I love the last picture, that is our house after the party was over! What a day!

Wow! Jeremy your really 30 now! I hope that you had a great day! I want you to know that I love you so much! I am grateful everyday that I am married to my best friend. I am so glad that we are more in love now than ever! It just keeps getting better! You are such a great Father to our children, what a great example!

I love you!!!

Look At My Face!

I guess that we learn from our children what we sound like. Carter and I were at Sam's Club and we heard the forklift beeping. He got very excited and said "Mommy, what's that?" I asked what he thought it was and he replied "I hear the tractor!" He then started pointing and telling me to go the other way to see the tractor. I said we might see it and then ignored him as I tried to hurry along. He kept carrying on, and I kept shopping. Then I heard "Mommy, look at my face. Look at my face." I smiled and looked at him. he looked me in the eye and said "I hear the tractor." I said yes, I hear it too. That made him happy to know that he had my full attention and that I acknowledged him.

That was much better than the time I told him to look at my face to try to explain something to him. He turned to me and said "look at my face, we don't spit, we don't hit!" So he hears but he does not listen!

What a crazy boy! You gotta love him!

We Are Still Here!

To any wondering what has happened to the Brummett's....we are still here. Just busy like always.

Jeremy:

Going to school and getting straight A's on his Masters program!

Working hard all day and then coming home to be a busy Dad and Husband. Carter still waits to hear the garage door open and then runs to meet Daddy!

Also going to the gym every day at lunch and doing so awesome!

Valerie:

Just finished reading the last book in the twilight series, so I can now function normally. I read 650 pages in 2 days! Don't worry hunny I will clean the house again some day!

Trying to keep up with Carter and Paige! I can't believe that Paige is now 5 months old. I feel like it was just the other day that we were in Fallon.

I ran a 5 K for our Stake Pioneer days! Yup I was very slow but I kept going. I blame that I was pushing a double stroller! I have never been much of a runner (OK, I have always hated it.) I have been working on it and I really enjoy it now.  BTW a 5K is 3.1 miles.
